Color Charts
When I first started to embroider, I found some Geisha Girl designs from Hatched in Africa and noticed a number of thread color choices were given unusual names such as "Bayberry Red". It took me a while to learn that this color was a name given by Sulky to their thread color #1169. The thread I was using was Isacord and I finally determined that an identical color (Isacord #1911) was called "Foliage Rose" . I then developed a color chart matching the names with numbers in the two thread sets: Isacord and Sulky. Furthermore, using the color RGB system (Red Green Blue) and the hexadecimal nomenclature ( Foliage Red is #940014 ) I was able to create color charts with the exact representation of the color, assuming your computer is calibrated correctly. In any event, a number of my fellow embroiderers have found the charts useful and I have linked to them here: Todd's Color Charts. The chart is only for the 100 or so thread colors I currently own and will be updated regularly as my thread collection grows. (Last update NOv 7, 2006)
